【Hitachi】3050RX Group and 3500 Series

Hitachi announced the 3050RX workstations in April 1993. These workstations ran on the Hewlett-Packard PA-7100 PA-RISC processor and had a performance level of 131 MIPS/40 megaFLOPS. The rendering performance with the 2D X1I vector was 1.5 MV/s and in 3D on the PEX it was 1.2 MV/s or 200 kP/s. Ethernet transfer speeds of 1 MB/s were attained by optimizing hardware and software processing. The series consisted of 12 models in all, ranging from pizza-box models to deskside models.

Hitachi announced the 3500 series of UNIX servers in April 1993. Running on the Hewlett-Packard PA-7100 PA-RISC processor, they reached a performance level of 131 MIPS or 190 TPS.

This series was suitable for 24-hour continuous operation, as it included ECC and other automatic fault recovery systems and tools for collecting and analyzing fault data.

The series’ eight models, ranging from desktop models to cabinet-sized models, allowed users to construct systems that fit their application needs.
