Hitachi announced five personal station models under the FLORA series in May 1991. These models fused Hitachi’s PC and workstation lines and were the Japan’s first to support the AX Consortium’s AX-VGA standard.
The FLORA 3020 series of two desktop models was positioned as the high-end series, while the FLORA 3010 series of one desktop and two laptop models was the cost-competitive series.
Aimed at enterprise network users, the FLORA 3020 series ran Microsoft Windows 3.0 so the desktops could function as an online terminal that connected to mainframe computers while simultaneously running general office software titles.
The FLORA 3010 models, on the other hand, mainly ran general-purpose software for enterprise departments, small business offices, and individual users.
