The "PC286 Series" achieved complete compatibility with the "NEC Personal Computer 9801 Series", which was the de facto standard in the Japanese market.
This machine featured the highest speed in the Japanese computer industry (80286 10MHz no-wait). Japan's first built-in mass memory (20MB HDD, 40MB HDD, 20MB cassette streamer) was available as an expansion option. This product was designed throughout for ease-of-use by the user. It was announced in April 1987.
