"TAP-1" was an assembler for TOSBAC-4200, developed by Toshiba in 1962. TAP-1 used paper tapes not only for inputting the source program and outputting the object program as the translation result, but also for loading the assembler itself and outputting the intermediate result of the translation. In 1964, Toshiba developed "TAP-2" (card-based input) and "TAP-3" (paper tape-based input) by using magnetic tapes for loading the assembler itself, outputting the intermediate result of the translation and outputting the object program.
