【Toshiba】 MK-130FA

This was a 3.5-inch magnetic disk unit Toshiba started shipping in January 1988. The MK-130FA Series had 3 models with different capacities, depending on the number of disks.

Laptop PCs were first disseminated around this time, and the size requirements on magnetic disk units were even more demanding than for desktop PCs. The MK-130FA Series was developed in response to the need for more compact disk units for laptop PCs.

Development of models with a built-in HDD controller was done later in order to achieve even greater miniaturization. Toshiba also developed the MK-230FB and MK-230FC Series which enabled increased storage capacity by improving bit density and track density. The interface was the only difference between the MK-230FB Series and the MK-230FC Series.
