【Hitachi】9000 Series and 9000V Series

Hitachi announced the 9000 series of workstations and servers in June 1993. The machines were supplied by Hewlett-Packard on an OEM basis.

The 700 line included five workstation models (715/33, 715/50, 725/50, 735, and 755). Running on the PA-7100 processor, the models featured 2D/3D graphics systems and CRX-24, CRX-24Z, or CRX-48Z.

The 800 line included 19 server models (F10, 20, 30, G30, 40, 50, 60, 70, H20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, I30, 40, 50, 60, 70). Running on the PA-7100 processor, the models were expandable to 768 MB of main memory and 172.8 GB of disk capacity.

Hitachi announced the 9000V series of workstations and servers in July 1995. These products were developed and produced by Hitachi. Workstations began shipping in September 1995 and servers in October 1995. The series ranged from a high-end model running on Hewlett-Packard’s PA-7200 (120 MHz) processor and featuring multiprocessor support to a full-featured desktop model running on Hewlett-Packard’s PA-7100LC processor and a compact desktop model offering a small footprint to fit in office environments.

These models were standard equipped with graphics systems that supported 2D/3D wireframe images.

The 9000V series was also loaded with the latest version of Hewlett-Packard’s HP-UX operating system, enabling users to take advantage of the more than 3,000 HP-UX application programs, including design, analysis, and image processing programs.
