This was a minicomputer form Fujitsu, announced in March 1969. The FACOM R used a magnetic core memory with a 1.5 microsecond cycle time, had a memory capacity of 1 Kword (expandable up to 32 Kword, 16-bit words), high addition/subtraction speed of 6 microsecond, a compact size (width 43cm, height 28cm, depth 59cm), with low price and high-reliability. With the diversification of computer use and the dissemination of online/real-time processing, this product was used for applications such as data gathering, data communications, process control, automatic testing and automatic control, and could meet the need for a handy, easy-to-use, inexpensive, and high-performance small computer.
