The Sigma System Project was launched in 1985, under the guidance of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry. The aim of this project was to improve the quality and productivity of software in order to cope with a large expected shortfall of software engineers in the future. The É∞ Workstation was completed in 1986, and the project finished in 1990.
