The M-680 Processor Group E Model and M-660 Processor Group E Model were general-purpose processor groups with an advanced system architecture, and an expanded memory mechanism as standard equipment.
The M-680 Processor Group E Models achieved a performance range of about 4.5 times in terms of the instruction execution speed ratio, from the M-680/160E entry model to the M-680/420E 4-way processor model. Similarly, the M-660 Processor Group E Models achieved a performance range of about 4.5 times in terms of the instruction execution speed ratio, from the M-660/120E entry model to the M-660/280E 2-way processor model. This made it possible to select the optimal processor to suit the required processing capacity. It was also easy to implement field upgrades to higher-end models.
