The ML320 Turbo series consisted of 9-pin and 24-pin printers that replaced the ML320 series. The ML320 series of serial printers offered the ruggedness that was in hot demand in overseas markets. They became best sellers because of their brand image of being “tank tuff.”
The Turbo series further increased print speeds, and the ML390/391 Turbo printers used a distributed-placement head to run quieter and use less energy. Overseas production was envisioned from the development stage, and a Thailand-based plant produced the printers. The printers were actively pushed in the Chinese market as well.
The ML520 and ML590 had 8-inch paper widths, and the ML521 and ML591 had 13.6-inch paper widths.
