【Oki Electric Industry】 OKITAC-5092 Card Read-Punch, OKITAC-5094 Card Reader

In 1961, Oki Electric Industry announced card processing devices (a card reader and card read-punch) as input/output devices for the OKITAC-5090 computer. The main features of these devices were as follows:
(1) OKITAC-5094 Card Reader
-This unit employed a photoelectric reader, and used solar cells as the reading element, so reading was extremely stable.
-The hopper could hold 3,000 cards, and operation was easy.
-Since stacker capacity was 3,000 cards, and cards could even be inserted during read operation, there was no need to replenish and remove cards, and thus no need to stop read operation
(2) OKITAC-5092 Card Read-Punch
-Just like the card reader, this unit employed a photoelectric reader, and used solar cells as the reading element, so reading was extremely stable.
-Step feeding during punching employed a proprietary shutter system, and this made punching pitch extremely accurate.
(3) A card sorting mechanism was provided at the front part of the card stacker, and this made it easy to extract a specific card, or sort and remove punch error cards.
(4) There were two stackers, the main stacker and the extracted card stacker, and these each had a storage capacity of 2,000 cards. Cards could be removed from the main stacker during operation.
